Nothingness

i hold in my hand nothingness an empty vacuous thing that i pulled out from my heart leaving behind a space where space used to be it’s a dark and congealed nothingness heavy with remembrances past i shudder in recognition for two such nothingness had once stared back at me from a mirror it was comforting once an unassuming friend keeping me company gentle benumbing soporific in my palm it shimmers a kaleidascope of images vestiges of memories dark long supressed but not forgotten my heart had played host to this nothingness a parasite thriving on the marrow of soul till i was but a shell my soul enslaved my spirit a pale flicker yet i was alive waiting for that spark of life the touch of love the courage to feel once again waiting for you and you came i am whole again no emptiness in my heart only you
